We recently learned of a group operating under “Original Save Venice.” This fraudulent group is not authorized to use the “Save Venice” name in any capacity. Due to a breach of our core values as an abolitionist-centric organization, we had to dismiss several former volunteers. Regrettably, these individuals have chosen to co-opt the “Save Venice” name despite it being both trademarked and registered as a non-profit in the State of California.
Save Venice, most popularly known for its victory in protecting the First Baptist Church of Venice from destruction, changed its name to Defend Venice in early 2023. Notwithstanding this name change, Save Venice remains the principal legal entity and continues to function as the primary organization responsible for all operations and initiatives previously conducted under Save Venice.
We respectfully recommend that if you choose to work with individuals from the fraudulent “Original Save Venice” group, please refrain from using the trademarked “Save Venice” non-profit name to avoid any legal complications. We apologize for any inconvenience caused by that group’s dishonesty.
